Civica Managing Partner To Serve On ASAE's Council For AMCs

Civica Associations Conferences & Exhibitions Managing Partner Don Knox has been named to the Association Management Company Section Council of the American Society of Association Executives.

The appointment is through August 1, 2019, with three one-year extensions possible.

The section is the professional home for principals and staff of AMCs. The section council ensures that ASAE provides programs, services, and information that serve association professionals who are working in or interested in working in an association management company.

Knox, a former business editor of The Denver Post and the Rocky Mountain News, founded Civica in 2011 to help creatively meet the management and headquarters needs of small- to mid-sized trade associations and professional societies. The company provides full-service management to nearly two dozen national, regional and statewide organizations.

The AMC Section Council next meets February 6-8, 2019, in Austin, Texas.

ASAE Names Civica An Approved Provider Of CAE Credits

The American Society of Association Executives has designated Civica Associations Conferences & Exhibitions as an approved provider of continuing education for association professionals hoping to earn or renew their Certified Association Executive credential.

Civica is the first Colorado-headquartered association management company, or AMC, to be so selected.

CAE Approved Providers are organizations that formally register with the CAE program and are committed to providing education that meets the CAE Commission’s standards for helping individuals earn or maintain the Certified Association Executive credential. CAE Approved Providers have received guidance on such standards and pledged to properly represent course eligibility for CAE credit.

“When selecting a CAE-eligible course from a CAE Approved Provider, CAEs and CAE candidates can be confident that the course will be recognized for CAE credit as advertised,” the American society says. The CAE program encourages candidates and CAEs to consider qualifying courses from CAE Approved Providers to meet the professional development requirements to earn or maintain the CAE credential.

Kim Gill, MA, CAE, and a Civica chief staff executive, is heading Civica’s CAE education efforts.
