DON KNOX, PRESIDENT, CHIEF STAFF EXECUTIVE
A former business editor of The Denver Post and the Rocky Mountain News, Don founded Civica after managing a nonprofit, pro bono, in a down economy. He views AMCs like Civica as "sharing economy" companies because they let nonprofits share experienced staff who are specialized and cross-trained. Don has a BS in journalism from Kansas University.
DOROTHY SHADRICK, MBA, CAE, CHIEF STAFF EXECUTIVE
After working for the State of Colorado and for two national nonprofits, Dorothy in 1987 founded Association Conferences & Exhibition Management Inc., which became part of Civica in 2015. She has a BBA from the University of Denver and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. She's also executive director for some of Civica's largest nonprofits.
KIM GILL, MA, CAE, CHIEF STAFF EXECUTIVE
Kim has a 20-year record of nonprofit leadership spanning from New York to Colorado and including work for professional societies serving lawyers, Realtors and contractors. She has an MA in Marketing Communications from Boston's Emerson College and a BA in Communication Studies from the State University of New York-Oswego.
Sonja HIX, OPERATIONS VICE PRESIDENT
Sonja worked for nearly six years in member services for Civica predecessor Caruso Associates before becoming conference coordinator for the Investment Management Consultants Association. Missing the fast pace of an AMC, she later rejoined her colleagues. She has a BA in communications from the University of Colorado.
ALLIE COLGAN, MEMBERSHIP & MEETINGS MANAGER
Allie, an Omaha native, worked for an association management company in Lincoln, Neb., before moving to Colorado in 2016. She likes to travel, hang out with friends and -- especially now that she's here -- ski. Allie has a BS in business administration from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln.
KELLI CATLIN, MEMBERSHIP & MEETINGS SPECIALIST
Kelli Catlin hails from Montrose, on the Western Slope, and received her BA in Communication from Regis University. Before joining us, Kelli worked as an aide at Colorado’s Capitol and tutored and directed the drama club at Skinner Middle School.
KASANDRE BROWN, MEMBERSHIP & MEETINGS SPECIALIST
Kassie, who received a BA in Arts Administration from Westminster College in Salt Lake City in 2015, joined us after serving as a venue sales associate for Denver Botanic Gardens / Chatfield in Littleton. She has a passion for art and events, saying, "When an event is planned and executed correctly it is itself a work of art."
Jessica GOTH, MEMBERSHIP & MEETINGS SPECIALIST
Jessica handled sales and was customer engagement specialist for Constant Contact, the online email marketing company, and assisted businesses at the Aurora Small Business Development Center. She has a Bachelor of Arts Communications and Spanish with a Minor in Business Administration, from Colorado State University.
EMILY DUFOUR, MEMBERSHIP & MEETINGs SPECIALIST
Emily Dufour joined Civica in 2018 after relocating from Central Maine, where she received a Bachelor's degree in Marketing Management from Thomas College. In Maine, she worked for nonprofits including the Institute for Family-Owned Business in Portland, and for Waterville Creates!.
KRISTA MATTHEWS, MEMBERSHIP, Conference Planner
Krista worked previously for the Consumer Technology Association managing global media outreach and PR in support of the CES and CES Asia trade shows. She also handled strategic communications for a Denver PR agency. She has a Bachelor of Science in Communications from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University.
EMMA GREMEL, CONFERENCE PLANNER
Emma served on the membership & meetings team before her current assignment. She joined us from an educational tours company. She interned with the Denver Outlaws lacrosse team and with Ireland's Tipperary Gaelic Athletic Association. She has a 2014 BS in business administration from the University of Colorado Leeds School of Business.
JACQUELINE BALES, CONFERENCE SPECIALIST
Jacqueline Bales joined Civica after serving as development director of the Arthritis Foundation and admission lead at the Milwaukee, Wis., Public Museum. She has a BS in Nonprofit Management from Indiana University.
REESE LEE, BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR & CHIEF STAFF EXECUTIVE
Reese joined us in 2017 from ConferenceDirect. His hotel experience -- InterContinental Hotels Group, Pinnacle Entertainment, Westin Westminster -- informs his planning. Reese has an MS in sports administration and a BS in recreation and sports management from Indiana State University.
SUSAN NOLTE, DIRECTOR OF FINANCE
Susan’s team provides corporate-quality accounting for Civica and its nonprofits. She joined Civica predecessor Caruso Associates in 1999. In her free time, Susan serves as treasurer for the Colorado Masters Swim Association, a part of the United States Masters Swim program. She has a BS in psychology from Colorado State University.
BERND JOHN 'B.J.' KASTEN, FINANCE SPECIALIST
B.J., who grew up in suburban Denver, joined Civica in 2015 from Association Conferences & Exhibition Management, where he handled bookkeeping and other financial duties for all of the association management company's clients. He has an Associate Degree in Accounting from Everest College in Denver.
VEDA KEECH, ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST
Veda has hands-on experience in payroll and accounting as a business owner, and she played key roles in organizing other small businesses. Her Accounting certificate is from Emily Griffith Technical College.
M. CoLLEEN CASPER, RN, MS, DNP, Executive Director, Colorado NURSES SOCIETY
Colleen has been executive director of the Colorado Nurses Association, the state's principal professional organization for nurses, since January 2014. Her leadership has always focused on improving the work environment and increasing shared decision-making for and with nurses for the purposes of providing safe and quality patient care.
Emily Zadvorny, Executive Director, Colorado PHARMACISTS SOCIETY
Emily is a clinical pharmacy specialist and consultant pharmacist. A native of Colorado, she earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Arizona. Subsequently she completed a general pharmacy practice residency and a managed care specialty residency at the University of California San Diego and earned board-certification as a pharmacotherapy specialist.
